BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Wilson Combat, the renowned manufacturer of 1911 pistols, will be one of the returning major sponsors of the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship, according to officials with the International Defensive Pistol Assn. (IDPA).
Now in its 17th year, the 2014 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals is one of the shooting sports’ most popular matches, once again selling out in record time. The match will take place February 20-22 on the indoor ranges of the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.
“Major IDPA matches rely on the support of sponsors, and there are few as generous – and committed – as Wilson Combat,” said Robert Ray, membership and marketing director for IDPA.
Wilson Combat joins Apex Tactical Specialties, Colt, Comp-Tac Victory Gear, CORBON, FMG Publications, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Nighthawk Custom, Panteao Productions, Rand Brands and Smith & Wesson, the title sponsor, in supporting the match. As part of their support, Wilson Combat will sponsor one of the 14 stages in the course of fire.
“Wilson Combat is a proud sponsor of IDPA and the Indoor Nationals. Our thanks go out to all the competitors for their hard work, and to S&W for hosting this premier event,” said Tressa Bohannan, marketing director for Wilson Combat.
The Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship represents the official start of IDPA’s competition season and is regarded as one of the finest competitive shooting matches in the country, thanks to broad industry support from companies like Wilson Combat.
More than 300 of the sport’s best shooters are expected to compete for titles in Custom Defensive Pistol, Enhanced Service Pistol, Stock Service Pistol, Stock Service Revolver and Enhanced Service Revolver, the five divisions within IDPA.
