BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Bob Vogel, the top shooter in the International Defensive Pistol Association, extended his win streak at the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals this past weekend by collecting the Stock Service Pistol division title for the eighth straight year.
Vogel won five of the 13 stages in the competition on his way to posting the fastest overall time of 181.15 seconds with just 32 points down. In addition to winning the SSP division, the Distinguished Master won the High Industry title.
“Bob is an unbelievable competitor with incredible shooting skills,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA. “Watching Bob shoot is to watch him put on a clinic, and at the same time a very humbling experience for those of us who can only dream of competing at that level.”
Finishing second behind Vogel was Ed Stettmeier who finished as the division’s first Master, and third overall, with a final time of 211.39 seconds with 70 points down. Mason Lane, the High Junior and the championship’s most accurate competitor, placed third in SSP and eighth overall with 228.26 and 31 points down.
