Venezuela’s Zanotti Takes High International At Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals

Zanotti-SWIN13-1smSPRINGFIELD, Mass. – With 19 shooters representing three nations and one U.S. territory all competing for the title of High International, it was Venezuela’s Luis Ricardo Zanotti who came out on top this past weekend at the 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship.

Zanotti, who competed as a Master in the Stock Service Pistol division, led a Venezuelan sweep of the top three spots with a final time of 203.97 and 76 points down. Second place went to the 2012 defending champ Juan Carlos Gonzalez Valdez who competed as a Master in the Enhanced Service Pistol division and finished with 205.52 (31), capturing for Venezuela the coveted title of Most Accurate. Third place went to Carlos Henao, an SSP Sharpshooter, with 288.60 (122).

Rounding out the top five were Mexico’s Fausto Gerard, an SSP Sharpshooter, with 304.19 (121) and Italy’s Federico Iannelli who is an SSP Master and finished with 305.54 (97).

“While we see tremendous growth in IDPA here in the U.S., our membership internationally continues to expand as well. We are so pleased to have a regular presence of international competitors at our major matches and I want to congratulate Luis and Juan Carlos for leading Team Venezuela to victory at the Smith & Wesson Indoor Nationals,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.

The 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship took place February 21-23 at the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Mass., drawing many of the shooting sports’ top pistol shooters from 28 states, one U.S. territory and three foreign nations.
