SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. – For the second year in a row Eva Micklethwaite of Tempe, Ariz. won the Lady’s Open division title at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Area 2 Regional Handgun Championship held this past weekend at the Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club in Mesa, Ariz.
Micklethwaite, who last year narrowly edged out Jenny Chu of Fremont, Calif., this year’s fourth place shooter, by just over half a point, shot her way to a 21+ point margin over her nearest competitor, Lisa Munson of Marysville, Wash., with a final score of 893.9717 points.
Munson took second with 872.1905 while Valerie Levanza- Rosales of Glendale, Calif. claimed third with 867.6553. Chu’s 825.8389 put her in fourth and Kay Miculek of Princeton, La. rounded out the top five with 794.6632 points.
The USPSA Area 2 Championship drew more than 370 top competition shooters. Area 2 is the Southwest region within USPSA, one of the eight shooting regions in the country, and is made up of Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii and New Mexico but shooters from around the country attended.
