Tara Lyon Takes High Lady, Queen of New England at the S&W Live Free Or Die IDPA Championship

Tara-PR-1BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Going into this weekend’s Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship Tara Lyon was in the lead for the Queen of New England. After the match not only did she take the High Lady title but picked up the title of Queen as well.

Lyon, who competed as a Sharpshooter in the Stock Service Pistol division, finished the match with a final time of 491.65 seconds with 151 points down.

The Queen of New England series recognizes the top female competitor shooting in the Massachusetts State Championship, the New England Regional and the Live Free Or Die, with the title going to the woman with the top cumulative score from four pre-selected stages from each of the three championships.

Lyon also claimed the High Lady title at the Smith & Wesson New England Regional and finished second among the women competing at the Massachusetts State Championship.

“It’s good to be the King, but it’s better to be the Queen. Congratulations to Her Royal Highness, Queen Tara, on another outstanding performance…and Long Live the Queen,” said Ken Lambert, match director for the Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die.

Lyon captured the Queen of New England title with a combined score of 545.82. Second place went to Dori Smith with 673.41 while third place went to Samantha Galante with 799.13.

Elsewhere in the SSP division contest at the Live Free Or Die, Rob Lacroix won the overall division title with 280.78 (86). Mason Lane took first Expert and High Junior with 316.67 (72). Lee Adams won High Military Veteran with 329.48 (106). Albert Chin took first Sharpshooter with 366.31 (128). Daniel Veiner finished first Marksman with 493.79 (164). High International went to Jaime Carmichael of Nova Scotia with 534.42 (97), and Ralph Berrett placed first Novice with 686.45 (277).

The sold out 2013 Smith & Wesson Live Free Or Die State IDPA Championship took place October 18-20 and was hosted by the Pioneer Sportsmen Club in Dunbarton, N.H.

The match was sponsored by a number of firearms industry leaders, including Apex Tactical Specialties, Comp-Tac Victory Gear, iMarksman, New England Tactical, RangeLog, Ruger, Safariland, SIG SAUER, Taurus and Smith & Wesson, the title sponsor of the match.
