HARVARD, Mass. – Tara Lyon outpaced defending women’s champ Kimberly Buckland to take the High Lady title at the Smith & Wesson New England Regional IDPA Championship.
Lyon, who competed as a Sharpshooter in the Stock Service Pistol (SSP) division, won six of 14 stages before taking the title with her final time of 515.15 seconds with 214 points down.
“Tara is a constant presence on New England’s IDPA ranges where she not only competes but often works the matches as well. I look forward to seeing Tara return to the winner’s circle again in the future,” said Bob Biehl, match director for the 2013 New England Regional.
Finishing in second place was Buckland who competed in the Enhanced Service Pistol (ESP) division as a Marksman. Buckland dominated Lyon on eight stages but finished with and overall time of 550.16 seconds and a total of 154 points down.
Also competing as a Marksman in ESP was Dori Smith who took third with 704.06 (269). Rounding out the top five were SSP Marksmen Samantha Galante in fourth with 761.83 (371) and Brooke Cheney placing fifth with 853.88 (313).
Sanctioned by the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) the Smith & Wesson New England Regional IDPA Championship was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 16-18, at the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club located in Harvard, Massachusetts and drew 189 competitors.
