SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. – New Hampshire based firearms maker Sig Sauer, a prominent name in law enforcement and military small arms, as well as recreational and sporting guns, has once again signed on as a platinum sponsor of the 2011 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships.
Sig Sauer joins previously announced platinum sponsors the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Smith & Wesson and Safariland. The company will be represented in competition by Max Michel, captain of the Sig Sauer shooting team, who is a three-time champion and hopes to be the first competitor in Steel Challenge history to log a fourth overall title win.
“We’re proud to welcome back Sig Sauer as a major sponsor of the 2011 Steel Challenge,” said Scott Moore, Steel Challenge sponsor relations. “This year’s match marks an important milestone in Steel Challenge history as we celebrate 30 years of speed shooting. We also hope to record our first four-time World Speed Shooting Championships overall champion, and Team Sig’s Max Michel is one of two shooters in a position to make history this year.”
Organized by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), the national governing body for the sport of speed shooting, the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships will bring together the fastest shooters from around the globe to compete in Piru, Calif. August 18-21. First held in 1981, the Steel Challenge celebrates its 30th anniversary and it’s final year in Golden State as the match moves to Florida in 2012.
