Springfield Armory’s elite 1911 TRP™ is now available in the powerful 10mm cartridge. Springfield released two new TRP™ models, one with a 5-inch barrel and a long-slide with a 6-inch barrel. Both variants offer tactically proven engineering, greater stopping power and now more terminal velocity.
The TRP™ (Tactical Response Pistol) line earned the FBI’s coveted HRT 1911 pistol contract, and before the release of these two new variants, the Springfield TRP™ Operator ® 1911s were only available in .45 ACP. The TRP has been the standard for serious fighting handguns since its introduction, and the new 10mm variants continue that tradition.
“We have offered 10mm 1911s from our Springfield Custom™ Shop for many years but this is the first production 10mm 1911 offering in the Springfield Armory lineup,” Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese said. “The TRP 10mm is soft shooting, built for accuracy and takes advantage of the full potential of the hottest 10mm rounds, just as the cartridge was originally intended.”
The forged steel frames and slides of the TRP models are fitted to Match Grade stainless steel barrels with fully supported ramps. The frames and slides are coated with Black-T®, a corrosion resistant finish that is designed to protect the pistol from heavy use and harsh conditions. Integrated three-slot accessory rails allow lights and lasers to easily be attached. Both variants feature 3-dot tritium night sights. The 5-inch version features tactical-rack rear, while the 6-inch model has a fully adjustable rear.
The Octo-Grip™ front strap and mainspring, coupled with G10 VZ Grip®, make the TRP easy to hold. With a crisp 4.5- to 5-pound trigger pull, the Springfield Armory Gen 2 Speed Trigger offers custom-grade feel and performance. Each 10mm TRP model comes with two 8-round magazines. The TRP is an incredibly soft-shooting pistol, due to the proper balancing of the recoil impulse with a heavier slide/barrel combination in conjunction with an optimized recoil spring.
The 5-inch barrel TRP model weighs in at 40 oz., while the 6-inch model weighs 45 oz., making these full-sized 1911 pistols soft-shooting and well-balanced options in a serious fighting handgun.
