SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 13, 2012) – Smith & Wesson Corp. announced today that the Smith & Wesson® booth (#13731) will host a star-studded event covering both firearms and professional shooters during the four days of the 2012 Shooting Hunting & Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. As part of a special exhibit dubbed “Smith & Wesson On The Silver Screen,” the company will display an assortment of highly recognizable firearms that have seen prominent placement in movies and television. In addition to the firearms display, attendees will also have a chance to meet the Company’s all-star cast of professional shooters including Champions Jerry Miculek, Doug Koenig and Julie Golob as they conduct live demos and autograph signings throughout the week.
With over a dozen firearms set to headline the “Smith & Wesson On The Silver Screen” exhibit, attendees of this year’s SHOT Show will be able to relive some of their favorite movie and television show performances. Leading the ensemble of Smith & Wesson firearms is the esteemed Model 29 used by Dirty Harry himself, Clint Eastwood, during the filming of the 1976 blockbuster hit “The Enforcer.” Those in attendance will be able to wield the legendary .44 Magnum® revolver while uttering that infamous movie line under a backdrop of the San Francisco, CA skyline. Other notable firearms that will be on display include the Model 64 revolver used by actor Aaron Eckhart, aka Harvey Dent, during production of the Batman movie, “The Dark Knight” as well as the Model 19 revolver carried by actor Danny Glover during the 1987 smash hit “Lethal Weapon.”
Movie and television enthusiasts will also be able to see the Model 10 used by esteemed actor Steve Buscemi in the HBO hit “Boardwalk Empire,” as well as the M&P9 pistol used by the well-known actress Angelina Jolie from the movie “Salt.” Other firearms that attendees will have a chance to view include the Model 629 used by Vin Diesel in “XXX” as well as the Model 3913 used in the zombie apocalypse thriller “The Walking Dead.” The Smith & Wesson X-Frame series of revolvers have also made a splash on the big screen with appearances in recent movies “Red,” and “The Spirit,” along with television shows “CSI Las Vegas,” “My Name is Earl” and “Bones.”
Sponsored by the American Entertainment Armories Association, the “Smith & Wesson On The Silver Screen” exhibit will also feature movie posters, photography and other memorabilia from each of these movies and television shows. The exhibit will be open in the Smith & Wesson booth throughout the four days of the SHOT Show and attendees are encouraged to stop by for this memorable experience.
No strangers to the camera themselves, the Smith & Wesson Champions Jerry Miculek, Doug Koenig and Julie Golob will also be making appearances during SHOT Show as they continue to wow attendees with their unparalleled shooting skills. Fresh off two of the most successful years in Team Smith & Wesson history, the S&W Champions have a proven knack for stealing the spotlight. During the 2012 SHOT Show, Jerry Miculek and Julie Golob will be conducting demos and all three Champions will be on site signing autographs and speaking with attendees.
After dominating the revolver game in 2011, Smith & Wesson’s Jerry Miculek will be looking for extra room in his southern Louisiana home in order to showcase all the new hardware. Winning both the USPSA Revolver National Title and the ICORE International National Championship World title, Miculek continues to solidify his place among the top shooters in history. In addition to his accomplishments on the range, Miculek is giving fans worldwide an opportunity to see his amazing skills as he takes part in the recently debuted television series “Hot Shots” airing on the NBC Sports Network.
Another well-rounded shooter who is no stranger to the winner’s circle is Smith & Wesson’s Doug Koenig. In 2011, Koenig extended his streak of victories to be named an 18-time Master’s International Champion and a 13-time Bianchi Cup Champion. Having won more titles in these two competitions than any other shooter on the planet, Koenig’s name can always be found on top of the leader board. Fans can now follow his exploits all season long with the airing of the “Doug Koenig Championship Season,” which gives viewers a front row seat to Koenig’s exploits both on the range and in the field.
Rounding out the list of Champions scheduled to appear at SHOT Show is Team Smith & Wesson Captain Julie Golob. A naturally talented athlete and recently published author of a new book entitled “Shoot – Your Guide to Shooting & Competition,” Golob experienced a 2011 season like no other. Winning back-to-back titles at the USPSA National Championships by claiming the Ladies Revolver and Ladies Production Nation Title, Golob became the first person in history (male or female) to win all six USPSA divisions. A truly astounding feat that can only be dreamed of by many shooters, Golob is one of the driving forces behind Team Smith & Wesson’s highly successful 2011 campaign.
Live demos by Jerry Miculek and Julie Golob will start at 10:30am on Tuesday and Thursday and again at 2:30pm on Wednesday. All of the Champions will be in the Smith & Wesson booth for signings from 2:30-4:00pm on Tuesday, 10:30am-12:00 on Wednesday, 2:30-4:00pm on Thursday and from 1:00-2:30pm on Friday.
