SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — New Hampshire based firearms maker Sig Sauer, a prominent name in law enforcement and military small arms, as well as recreational and sporting guns, has signed on as a platinum sponsor of the 2010 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships.
Representing the company at this year’s match will be the defending champion, and three-time winner of the Steel Challenge, Max Michel, captain of the Sig Sauer shooting team. Michel has won all the major matches he’s entered in 2010 and is considered one of the favorites at this year’s Steel Challenge.
Organized by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), the 2010 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships will take place August 19 through 22 in Piru, Calif.
“Sig Sauer has made a serious commitment to expanding their presence in the pistol shooting sports and we’re proud to welcome them and Max Michel back to this year’s match. Max is one of the best speed shooters in the world and Sig Sauer may just find its way back to the winner’s circle this year,” said Tammy Mowry, Steel Challenge sponsor coordinator.
“Sig Sauer is proud to continue its role in promoting competitive shooting and one of the premier events in the industry” said Jacklyn Jacobson, Sig Sauer events manager.
Since the first Steel Challenge in 1981, the World Speed Shooting Championships have grown into the premier exhibition of speed shooting in the world and routinely draws the fastest shooters from around the globe.
