BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) announced that Safariland, the makers of a broad range of law enforcement and security products and services, as well as competition specific holsters, will sponsor the upcoming 2012 Carolina Cup championship.
Safariland is one of the longest running and most respected names in competitive pistol shooting, as well as a major supporter of shooting matches around the country. They join Remington Arms and Smith & Wesson, the Carolina Cup’s two major sponsors, and Comp-Tac, GlockTriggers.com and Trijicon in supporting the championship. As part of their support for the match Safariland will sponsor two of the match’s 16 stages.
“We’re extremely grateful to have Safariland, one of the most widely recognized names in shooting competition, on board as a sponsor of the 2012 Carolina Cup,” said Scott Ruby, sponsor coordinator for the Carolina Cup. “Safariland has always been a strong supporter of the shooting sports, and in particular IDPA. Their generous support of the Carolina Cup is one of the reasons it’s among the best matches in the country.”
“We are very pleased to see the continued growth of IDPA, especially the Carolina Cup, and we wish all the competitors good luck in what is one of IDPA most challenging competitions,” said Scott Carnahan, VP of Safariland and Team Safariland Captain.
“Safariland is proud to be represented at this year’s Carolina Cup by Team Safariland members Bob Vogel, Bobby McGee and Tierani Hendrix who will be competing in the match with their new IDPA rigs.”
The Carolina Cup, one of IDPA’s three major championships, will take place June 14-16 at The Range in Oxford, North Carolina. More than 360 of IDPA’s top shooters are expected to put upwards of 75,000 rounds downrange in pursuit of titles in Custom Defensive Pistol, Enhanced Service Pistol, Stock Service Pistol, Stock Service Revolver and Enhanced Service Revolver, the five divisions in IDPA competition.
Considered by many to be among the most popular matches in IDPA competition, the Carolina Cup is known for its challenging courses of fire that creatively test all of a shooter’s skills. Due to both the match’s popularity and the explosive growth in IDPA membership, the Carolina Cup has been sold out since early March.
