NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for America’s firearms industry, is pleased to announce that the Ammo Roundup Program component of the Rimfire Challenge is fully operational and available immediately for ammunition ordering by range operators and match directors.
The Rimfire Challenge (originally developed by Ruger and formerly known as the Ruger Rimfire Challenge), focuses on competition with .22-caliber rifles and pistols and was designed to introduce new shooters to the shooting sports. Supporting these matches and new competitors is the Rimfire Challenge Ammo Roundup. With this Roundup, several companies such as Winchester, ATK and Aguila Ammunition have generously committed to providing hundreds of thousands of .22LR ammunition rounds in support of the nation-wide Rimfire Challenge events. Those ammo allocations are sent directly to Gold Coast Armory, NSSF’s ammunition fulfillment partner for the Rimfire Challenge.
“With Gold Coast Armory serving as our distribution coordinator for Rimfire Challenge match ammunition orders, match directors now have a single point of contact that makes ordering ammo needed for their matches an easy and efficient process,” explained Zach Snow, NSSF Manager Shooting Promotions. “With the thousands of rounds committed by Winchester, ATK and Aguila, not only are the competitors well taken care of, ranges that haven’t previously held a Rimfire Challenge event because of the unavailability of .22LR rimfire ammunition can now be confident in hosting these exciting and rapidly growing matches.
“Rimfire Challenge matches are an excellent way to increase range traffic, draw in new customers, and increase profitability, especially for those ranges where seasonal slumps occur,” said Randy Clark, NSSF Managing Director, Business Development. “They provide an excellent opportunity to promote community outreach by exposing people new to firearms and the shooting sports to just how much fun and unpressured competition can be. The format has proven to be exceptionally popular with those ranges already participating: Old Fort Gun Club, our host for the 2014 Rimfire World Championships, had participants from 10 states attend their local match. When you can provide that kind of program for new shooters, you have an ever-growing customer base right at your fingertips.”
