NEWTOWN, Conn. — With firearms retailers the fastest- and largest- growing segment of membership, the National Shooting Sports Foundation has named Patrick Shay as director of retail development so that NSSF can provide an even higher level of service to meet retailer needs.
In this full-time position, Shay will manage NSSF retailer education programs such as SHOT Show University, which teaches business skills, and Retail Education Seminars, which are available nationwide to provide federal firearms licensees and their staffs with guidance on regulation and compliance.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Patrick’s knowledge and experience in firearms retailing join NSSF,” said Randy Clark, NSSF managing director of business development. “He is well-equipped to lead NSSF’s efforts to help firearms retailers grow their businesses and adapt to what has become a dynamic marketplace with many new customers and new products.”
Shay has 15 years experience in the retailing of shooting and hunting products. He comes to the NSSF from Midway USA, where during his tenure he distinguished himself in the positions of publications manager, product-line manager for optics and reloading, promotions manager and, most recently, international sales manager, where he oversaw the development of retailers in 35 countries.
“NSSF has always been viewed as a leader in serving the retailer community, and I’m looking forward to continuing that high level of service while also contributing to new programs NSSF will develop to assist firearms retailers in meeting their many challenges.”
Shay will serve NSSF member retailers by addressing issues that the retailers identify in dealing with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the National Instant Background Check System, manufacturers and distributors and by acting as a general resource for whatever needs the retailer members have.
Patrick Shay can be reached at the NSSF headquarters at 203-426-1320 or through email at pshay@nssf.org.
