Lentz Returns As SSR Champ At 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the third time since 2010, Josh Lentz of Team Smith & Wesson took home the Stock Service Revolver title at the International Defensive Pistol Association’s (IDPA) Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship.

Lentz-SWIN13-1smLentz, who also shoots for the XS Sight Systems shooting team and is a Distinguished Master within the division, previously won the SSR title in 2010 and 2011. This year Lentz took the title with a time of 238.02 while shooting just 35 points down.

“Josh is a wonderfully talented revolver shooter who is proving time and time again that he is the one to beat in Stock Service Revolver competition. His win this weekend at Smith & Wesson only solidifies further his place at the top,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.

Finishing second behind Lentz was the 2012 defending champion and SSR Distinguished Master Joe Linskey who finished second overall in the division with a time of 251.56 and 59 points down. Kirk Crego, another SSR Distinguished Master, placed third overall with 259.09 (40). Tom Becker took first Master finishing fourth overall with 278.54 (63) followed by Gene Gelberger with 284.31 (99).

Elsewhere in the division Ken Ortbach captured first Expert while finishing fifth overall with 299.02 (87). Franco Emilio Jr. took first Sharpshooter with 318.07 (104), which will move him up to Expert class, and Tom Miller took first Marksman with 438.43 (171).

The 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship took place February 21-23 at the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Mass., drawing many of the shooting sports’ top pistol shooters from 28 states, one U.S. territory and three foreign nations.
