LOS OSOS, Calif. – The International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) today announced the first of five winners of a special promotion sponsored by renowned firearms maker Smith & Wesson. David Kim of Newtown, Pa., a new shooter within ICORE, won a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle.
As part of the 2011 ICORE Regional Series presented by Smith & Wesson, the company donated five firearms to be given away through a random drawing to those that participated in the series. Kim, who recently joined ICORE as a life member, competed in his first major ICORE event, the East Coast Regional, finishing 11th in the Limited division and 29th overall.
“I just started shooting a revolver competitively and prior to this was just a casual shooter. I was really excited to learn I had won because I never win anything,” joked Kim.
Kim, whose home range is the Langhorne Rod & Gun Club, sees ICORE becoming a bigger part of his shooting future.
“Shooting in ICORE is a lot of fun and they are a great group of people to be around. I definitely plan to shoot more ICORE matches in 2012 and hope to bring some of the Langhorne members with me. They see how much fun I’m having and want to get in on the action,” noted Kim.
The 2011 ICORE Regional Series presented by Smith & Wesson consisted of seven events, including the East Coast Regional Revolver Championship held in September at the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club in New Tripoli, Pa.
“Thanks to the continued support of Smith & Wesson, ICORE has expanded the ranks of competitive revolver shooters and, with the help of their regional series promotion, attracted new shooters like David,” said Art Leach of ICORE.
ICORE will announce the remaining four winners of the special Smith & Wesson regional promotion each day this week and the winners’ names will be posted on ICORE’s Facebook page.
