BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Wilson Combat’s Glenn Shelby returned to the winner’s circle when he captured the Custom Defensive Pistol division title at the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals this past weekend in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Shelby, who is the dominating force in his division, claimed the CDP title with his final time of 217.45 seconds while shooting just 39 points down. Overall, Shelby placed fourth among the 328 shooters competing in the annual championship.
“Glenn is a tremendous shooting talent and has been the leading CDP competitor in IDPA over the last few years. Winning the Smith & Wesson Indoor Nationals, yet again, shows that 2015 is likely going to be another great year for Glenn,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.
Second place in the division went to Smith & Wesson’s David Olhasso who finished sixth overall with 225.16 (65). Shelby’s Wilson Combat teammate Austin Proulx took first Master and finished 16th overall with 241.81 (72). Rounding out the top five were Team Colt’s Mark Redl who finished fourth in the division, 18th overall and claimed the High Senior title with 243.58 (71) while Chris Chamberlin placed fifth, and 20th overall, with 245.32 (70).
Elsewhere in the Custom Defensive Pistol division, Bob Biehl took first Expert with 268.23 (50), Andy Holton won first Sharpshooter with 335.97 (119) and Danielle Vermeulen claimed first Marksman with 398.74 (142).
Smith & Wesson has hosted the IDPA Indoor National Championship on the indoor ranges of their Shooting Sports Center for 18 years. One of the most popular matches on the IDPA competition calendar, the Indoor Nationals serves as the official start of the IDPA season.
