BERRYVILLE, Ark. – FMG Publications, one of the leading magazine publishers catering to the firearms enthusiast and shooting sports participant, and owner of such well respected titles as American Handgunner and GUNS Magazine, has signed on to sponsor the inaugural Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals.
“FMG Publications has always been very supportive of IDPA and we’re very proud to have them joining us as a sponsor of the new Smith & Wesson Back Up Gun Nationals,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.
FMG Publications joins Apex Tactical Specialties, Brownells, GLOCK, Harris Publications, Michigan Ammo Company, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Panteao Productions, the Self Defense Association, SIG SAUER, Springfield Armory, Wilson Combat and Smith & Wesson, the title sponsor, in supporting this latest IDPA national championship event. As part of their support, FMG Publications will sponsor one of the 13 stages in the course of fire.
“When the back up gun becomes the primary gun, it’s good to know how to run it. We’re excited to support this match as it encourages mastery of back up guns in real-life defensive scenarios. Since the folks at Smith & Wesson know a few things about back up guns and running top notch events, we’re honored to partner with them as a stage sponsor,” said Randy Molde, VP for business development at FMG Publications.
The Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals will take place November 14-16 and feature a 13-stage course of fire with a round count of 180. Held on the indoor ranges of the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, match officials expect the event to draw upwards of 200 top IDPA shooters vying for titles in either the Pistol or Revolver division.
Registration is open and just a handful of slots are still available for those interested in competing. Registration is being conducted online at MatchReg.com/BUG.
