Day 1 of SHOT Show, 2010…. the busiest in a long time!

Wow.

Today was the busiest SHOT Show day that I have had in a long time.

The floor was very busy and full of people excited to be there.

The S.W.A.T. Magazine booth, which I used as my base of operations, was crowded all day.

I had some great meetings with representatives from Combat Gauze, Warrior Conference, Cheaper Than Dirt, Highgear Impact Reduction Suits, Direct Action Medical Network, G.O.A.L., TEGs and several others.

The highlight of the show this year has to be all the incredible feedback that we’re getting about S.W.A.T. Magazine TV and the second season of The Best Defense. Possibly because it is the “new kid on the block”, S.W.A.T. TV has really garnered a lot of attention from attendees. Whether they were viewers, guests, advertisers or involved in the production, everyone that I’ve talked to has been thrilled with the show…. and that is pretty thrilling for me.

I also spent some time over at Outdoor Channel’s huge booth area in the center of the main hall. In addition to putting some faces to the names that have provided so much important support to all three of the shows that I have worked on for the network in the past year, it was also fun to mingle with some of the hosts and producers of shows in the other genres that Outdoor Channel features, especially on the hunting side. In fact, we might even have found an opportunity of me to get a cameo appearance with some tactical gear in the field!

Perhaps the most unique aspect of SHOT Show for me this year is that I was asked by Outdoor Channel to carry around a small HD flip camera and conduct impromptu interviews and other segments to capture the show from my perspective as it happens. These videos are being collected and edited and placed online at Outdoor Channel’s website… a couple are already posted there ,along with pieces from Michael Bane and others.
