Colt lends NRA a 175th Anniversary Single Action Army revolver

Fairfax, Virginia – Every twenty-five years, Colt’s Manufacturing Company celebrates their longevity and success with the creation of a commemorative firearm. Now what do you do when you’ve got yourself a one-of-a-kind handgun? How about putting it on display at the NRA National Firearms Museum?

“Our CEO, Lt. General William M. Keys, USMC (Ret.), thought that rather then leave it in a cabinet at Colt’s Manufacturing, that we should have it on display where the public could see it,” said Timothy Looney, Manager of the Colt Custom Shop.

Definitely sounds like a job for the National Firearms Museum. So what exactly are we talking about here?

Parts of Colt’s 175th Anniversary Single Action Army Revolver

A special product from the Colt Custom shop, this beautiful piece is based off of the classic 1873 Single Action Army Revolver design. Gold inlays, delicate engraving and scrimshaw paneled grips are just a few of the touches on this masterpiece.

“And if you look closely, you’ll see the serial number is Colt175,” pointed out Senior Curator Doug Wicklund. “How cool is that.”
