SEDRO-WOOLLEY – In their first match up since the national championships, Taran Butler of Simi Valley, Calif. edged out the current National Champion Nils Jonasson of Mesa, Ariz. by just 2.3469 points to win the Limited division title at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Area 2 Regional Handgun Championship this past weekend at the Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club in Mesa, Ariz.
Butler finished the match with a final score of 1057.6391 to take the title, while Jonasson shot a final score of 1055.2922.
Blake Miguez, the Top Shot season one contestant from New Iberia, La., finished in third with 1047.2134. Rounding out the top five were John Mouret of Surprise, Ariz. in fourth with 1007.5770 points and Manny Bragg of Kirksville, Mo. in fifth with 986.4482.
The USPSA Area 2 Championship drew more than 370 top competition shooters. Area 2 is the Southwest region within USPSA, one of the eight shooting regions in the country, and is made up of Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii and New Mexico but shooters from around the country attended.
