BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Team Blade-Tech’s Nils Jonasson outpaced the defending champion and Team Smith & Wesson shooter Brandon Wright to take the Enhanced Service Pistol division title at the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals this past weekend in Springfield, Massachusetts.
With a final time of 193.03 seconds with 54 points down, Jonasson finished the match as the second fastest overall shooter among the more than 320 that competed.
“Since joining us at our national championships, Nils has emerged as a major favorite to win in ESP. Any shooter looking to make a run at the ESP title needs to first get past Nils, and that’s no easy feat,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.
Wright, who placed fifth overall in the championship, finished 24.43 seconds behind Jonasson with a time of 217.46 seconds and 56 points down. Team RangeLog’s Morgan Allen took first Master honors and seventh overall with 227.69 (55). Rounding out the top five were Wilson Combat’s BJ Norris with 229.63 (53) and ninth overall followed by 16-year-old Ashley Rheuark who finished 10th overall with 232.01 (52).
