HOUSTON, Texas – For the 12th year in a row Gordon Carrell of Comp-Tac Victory Gear captured the Stock Service Pistol division title at the Lone Star State’s IDPA championship, the Comp-Tac Republic of Texas Championship.
Finishing with a final score of 229.81, Carrell not only took the SSP division title but also finished High Overall for the second year in a row. With just 28 points down in the match, he also took home the title of Most Accurate.
“This year’s Republic of Texas was one of the most challenging and well run matches I have had the pleasure of competing in. The stages were straight forward yet required a wide range of skill sets. Of course, it helps when you have the best equipment,” said Gordon Carrell who in addition to being sponsored by Comp-Tac is supported by Apex Tactical Specialties, Armadillo Concealment, Smith & Wesson, Sportsman’s Outlet and Warren Tactical Sights.
The 2014 Comp-Tac Republic of Texas IDPA Championship took place Saturday, May 24, at the Triple C Tactical Range in Cresson, Texas, and was hosted by the Collin County IDPA club. The match drew over 200 of the state’s best shooters as well as widespread industry support from leading companies such as title sponsor Comp-Tac.
“As a Texas company, the Republic of Texas IDPA Championship is one of our favorite matches as it allows us to support our state’s IDPA shooting community and spend the afternoon on the range with friends. Of course, we’re also very proud to have the state SSP title coming back to Comp-Tac thanks to another outstanding shooting performance by Gordon,” said Gregg Garrett, owner and president of Comp-Tac.
