SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the second year in a row, Brandon Wright of Team ITI captured the Enhanced Service Pistol title at the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship.
Wright outpaced his nearest competitor, Nils Jonasson, by 10.11 seconds, winning six of the 13 stages to finish with a final time of 164.51 with 38 points down. Overall in the match Wright placed second just 2.92 seconds behind.
“This was another great match for Brandon who continues to assert his dominance in the ESP division. The Smith & Wesson Indoor National Championship is always a very technically challenging match but Brandon made it look easy,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.
Second place overall in the division went to Blade-Tech’s Nils Jonasson who finished as the first Master with 174.62 (63). Team Comp-Tac’s Gordon Carrell finished third with 190.06 (78) while Team Armscor’s Mike Seeklander placed fourth and won High Military honors with 191.88 (76). Team RangeLog’s Morgan Allen rounded out the top five with his final time of 199.92 (103).
Elsewhere within the ESP division Clint Bowen claimed first Expert with 212.67 (88). James Martino won High Senior with 225.47 (89). Brian Daku took first Sharpshooter with 254.55 (111). The match’s High Distinguished Senior was Joseph Kulin with 336.70 (162). Corey Beaudreau won High Marksman with 369.43 (154).
The 2014 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship took place February 20-22 at the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Mass., drawing many of the shooting sports’ top pistol and revolver shooters from across the country and outside the U.S. Full results are available online at IDPA.com.
