BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Lou Denys, Match Director of the upcoming 2014 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship, has named Terry Burba as Assistant Match Director for the championship.
Celebrating its 17th consecutive year of competition, the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship has grown to become one of the premier events in all the shooting sports, as well as serving as the official start of the competitive season for the International Defensive Pistol Association.
“Terry is one of the best known and most respected members of IDPA. Over the years he has volunteered countless hours to better the sport. Whether it’s working local matches or heading up the organization’s Tiger Teams effort to revamp the rules, Terry has given back to the sport like few others. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Smith & Wesson Indoor Nationals and we’re very happy to have him take on the Assistant MD role,” said Lou Denys.
For the past three years Burba has been part of the match staff at the Indoor Nationals helping to design stages and working as one of the hand-picked Chief Safety Officers at the match.
“This is going to feel strange to be working a match without a timer in my hand. I want to thank Smith & Wesson for this opportunity to serve the IDPA community in this capacity. Without being assigned to a specific bay, I’ll be able to move around the range to help out where ever I can be of assistance. We are all looking forward to this year’s match and to being able to see all of the shooters who have made it so popular over the years,” said Burba.
The 2014 match will take place February 20-22. Already sold out, the championship is expected to draw over 300 of the best IDPA shooters to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete on the indoor ranges of the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center.
