TULSA, Okla. – A rising star in IDPA, 15-year-old Ashley Rheuark claimed the High Junior title this past weekend at the IDPA U.S. National Championship.
Competing as a Master in the Enhanced Service Pistol division, Rheuark won the title with a final time of 327.89 seconds, shooting 61 points down.
“There’s no doubt that Ashley is the latest star to emerge in IDPA. Not only did this outstanding young lady hold off last year’s defending champion, but she also placed second among all the women competing this year,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA. “I expect we’ll see a lot more podium appearances from Ashley in the future.”
Placing second behind Rheuark was last year’s Junior National Champion, Austin Proulx, who competed as an Expert in the CDP division where he finished with a time of 380.82 with 119 points down. Third place went to Jorge Sleiman of Venezuela, an ESP Sharpshooter, with 420.81 and 144 points down. Riley Bahre, an SSP Sharpshooter, finished fourth with 497.33 (146).
The 2013 IDPA U.S. National Championship took place September 19-22 in Tulsa, Okla., drawing many of the shooting sports’ top pistol and revolver shooters.
