The Smith & Wesson U.S. National Steel Championships began today in Titusville, Fla. Today’s match consisted of the .22LR match and included the coveted media category which was won last year by photographer Yamil Sued. This ear however, Yamil had not planned on shooting and did not bring a pistol to compete with. Not wanting his defending champion sit out the competition, Mike Calloway loaned Yamil his Smith & Wesson 41. Armed with his borrowed S&W, Yamil went about scrounging ammo and bummed some extra ammo from Glock’s Dave Sevigny and Team S&W shooter BJ Norris. With gun and ammo in hand, Yamil set out to once again take the Media Champion title by facing off against three competitors from Shooting USA TV show – the same folks he handily defeated in 2009.
At the end of today’s competition, Yamil found himself, and his borrowed S&W 41, once again in the winners circle having successfully defended his title. Of course, since Yamil was shooting in the competition nobody gat a picture of him. But he did get some shots of the Team S&W shooters which will be posted shortly.
