BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) announced that Harris Publications, a leading publisher of special interest publications and owner of such titles as Combat Handguns and the popular websites Tactical-Life.com and PersonalDefenseWorld.com, will once again be one of the major sponsors of the IDPA U.S. National Championship.
Hosted by the U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the 2013 IDPA U.S. National Championship will take place September 19 thru 21 and is again expected to draw over 300 of the sport’s top shooters. Harris Publications joins Brownells, Taurus and the National Shooting Sports Foundation as a gold level sponsor of the event.
“On behalf of the more than 22,000 IDPA members I want to thank Harris Publications for their continued, and generous, support for the International Defensive Pistol Association and the 2013 IDPA U.S. National Championship in particular,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director for IDPA.
In addition to supporting the IDPA Nationals, Harris Publications has over the years been one of the most active corporate sponsors of IDPA competitions, helping matches all across the United States.
“Harris is very proud to support IDPA whenever possible. Our team at Harris, constantly discusses how our magazines and websites must be tools – tools to help the good guys stay safe. Of course we want every reader to be pleased with the ‘new’ products we try so hard to secure first to test and evaluate for our followers. But every time we close a magazine or post something online, we say to ourselves, ‘did we do the best possible job conveying solid tactics, to keep the good guys one step ahead.’ At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. We think that this is also the essence of IDPA. We share their mission,” said Shirley Steffen of Harris Publications.
