Raton, New Mexico – You may have noticed NRA Competitive Shooting’s new Director, Dennis Willing, holding up a fine rifle as he posed with this year’s Creedmoor champion Dave Gullo. Unlike NRA Black Powder Target Rifle’s Position Championship trophy, which is a beautiful Sheutzen rifle, this gun was awarded to Gullo for taking first place.
The rifle was comprised entirely of extremely generous donations by some of the championships’ sponsors. Funny enough, Dave Gullo was one of those sponsors. His company, Buffalo Arms, gave the fine Badger barrel you see here.
The rifle’s sight was given by longtime Black Powder Target Rifle supporter Steve Baldwin and his company Baldwin Sights. A former Camp Perry competitor, Baldwin moved to BPTR and has been a tremendous help at the championships. He generously supplied bottled water for every competitor during the championships and, along with Dave Gullo, supplied pizza and drink one night for dinner.
Gail Shuttleworth from CPA Corporation donated the rest of the rifle, including the palm rest.
“I want to thank Dave, Steve and Gail for the truly great rifle they helped us put together this year,” Match Director Jonathan Leighton said. “It’s a fine prize for the NRA’s oldest discipline and I know Dave will enjoy it.”
