Colorado firing range funds renovation through Friends of NRA

Money from Colorado Friends of NRA events goes to local projects

Last month the Summit County Shooting Range near Dillon, Colorado, reopened to the public after undergoing a thorough renovation.

These renovations would not have been possible without the help of the Friends of NRA, who generously awarded the range with a grant to improve the facility.

Since 2010, Friends of NRA, a grassroots fundraising program for the support of the shooting sports, has given two grants to the range totaling $22,000.

“Friends of NRA is glad to have helped the Summit County Shooting Range with their renovations,” NRA Field Representative Gwen Chermack told us. “Thanks to these changes, gun enthusiasts can continue to exercise their Second Amendment rights in a clean, safe environment.”

Featuring a 50-yard pistol range, 100-yard rifle range and a trap field, shooters may enjoy a number of different firearms at the facility.

The ranges, which will continue to be free and open to the public, spent much of the grant cleaning the grounds, which were beginning to become unsafe as a result of trash dumped by visitors.

Maintaining the cleanliness of the facility is the ticket to keeping it open in the future and has become a top priority to the volunteers and staff from a nearby landfill who monitor the range.

The funds for this grant came from local NRA supporters in Colorado and is one of the great reasons the shooting sports will continue thanks to Friends of NRA.
