NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry, has named Michael G. (Mike) Bazinet as director, public affairs.
In this role, Bazinet will be responsible for NSSF’s communications with the general news media and support the association’s government relations programs.
Bazinet has served in communications and public affairs roles at Terex, UST (now part of Altria), Aetna and Tenneco. A former journalist, he was state editor at the Journal Inquirer in Manchester, Conn.; news editor at the North Penn Reporter in Lansdale, Pa.; and a business editor on the first online edition of USA Today.
“Mike brings an impressive skill set to the public affairs role at NSSF,” said Bill Dunn, NSSF managing director of marketing communications. “His years of experience in both the public affairs arena and as a journalist will be significant assets to NSSF and all of its members. We are thrilled to have him aboard.”

Bazinet holds an MA in journalism from the Ohio State University, where he was a Kiplinger fellow in public affairs reporting, and a BA in political science from American University in Washington, D.C.
