The First Annual Silencers Are Legal Shoot

DALLAS , TX – Silencerco will be hosting The Silencers are Legal Shoot located at Elm Fork Shooting Range in Dallas, TX,  April 28th 2012. It was announced today by Joshua Waldron CEO of Silencerco.  The Silencers are Legal Shoot promises to be most hands on, educational, and exciting gun show of the year. Proceeds from this live fire event are going to benefit The American Silencer Association, which will support the pursuit of education, public relations, legislation, hunting applications, and military applications for the silencer industry. Attendees are invited to bring their firearms and test out the most current products on the market and learn more about the uses and benefits of silencers.

The Silencers are Legal campaign was created in 2011 to raise awareness about a booming, yet marginalized US industry that is battling for its constitutional rights. Over 27,000 suppressors are purchased every year, and yet there are states that prohibit them. Despite growing popularity amongst military and civilians alike, silencers are still largely perceived to be associated with violent criminal activity, when in fact, they are not. The Silencers are Legal Campaign and the American Silencer Association aim to educate the public at large that silencers have the ability to save hearing, improve accuracy, increase situational awareness, and most importantly, save lives.

The Silencers are Legal Shoot is one of many initiatives created to unite the silencer community and form one strong voice for advocacy. To find out more go to silencersarelegal.com.

About SilencerCo
SilencerCo was formed in 2008 by Joshua Waldron and Jonathon Shults. Waldron and Shults learned that the military released a solicitation stating it wanted all firearms deployed to be silenced.  The most common Veterans Administration medical claim is hearing damage/loss due to gun fire. The second most common VA medical claim was PTSD.  Tinnitus, which is a ringing in ones ears due to noise induced hearing damage, is a constant reminder of the event which caused the PTSD.  If you can stop the ringing, you can more easily rehabilitate the soldier.  Silencers protect the hearing of soldiers, which helps them get back into civilian life sooner or be a more effective soldier while deployed.  Besides the benefits to soldiers, Waldron and Shults learned of the many benefits of civilian ownership of silencers. Based on 2011 operations, SilencerCo is now the largest silencer manufacturer in the country for civilians and they are continuing to make progress in acquiring military deals.  SilencerCo has created 25 jobs and have done so in the hardest economic times our country has seen for a long time.

About The American Silencer Association
The American Silencer Association (ASA) is a non-profit trade association whose mission is “to further the pursuit of education, public relations, legislation, hunting applications, and military applications for the silencer industry”.  The parent companies responsible for the incorporation of the ASA are Silencerco/SWR, Advanced Armament Corp, and Gemtech.  While they are fierce competitors in the marketplace, all three companies recognize the necessity of creating a single voice to educate the public and to enhance their ability to advocate for silencer rights.
