SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — The U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), the national governing body for the sport of practical shooting, announced that STI International, a leading manufacturer of firearms for the competition market, will be the title sponsor of the organization’s annual handgun championships.
The STI USPSA National Handgun Championships will take place September 16-24 at the Desert Sportsman’s Rifle & Pistol Club in Las Vegas, Nev. More than 600 of the nation’s top handgun shooters, as well as several from outside the United States, are expected to compete for titles in the USPSA Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production and Revolver divisions.
“STI is one of the most recognized names in practical shooting competition and their pistols can be found in the hands of champions around the world. In addition to supporting individual competitors, STI has consistently supported practical shooting competitions here in America as well as abroad and we are pleased to have them as the title sponsor of our 2011 nationals,” said Dave Thomas, executive director of USPSA.
“USPSA and STI have enjoyed a close relationship for many years and we are proud to help put on what we are sure will be one of the most exciting National Handgun Championships yet,” said Rabbit Boyett, marketing manager for STI International.
“As the popularity of practical shooting grows throughout the country, we are seeing more great shooters coming out of nowhere to challenge even the biggest names. The 2011 STI USPSA National Handgun Championships should be a great showcase of that talent and we at STI International wish the best of luck to everyone competing.”
The STI USPSA National Handgun Championships are the highlight of the practical shooting season in the United States, and in 2011, a preliminary for the International Practical Shooting Confederation’s (IPSC) triennial World Shoot which will take place in Rhodes, Greece this October 3-10.
