BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Organizers of the 17th Annual Massachusetts State IDPA Championship, presented by Smith & Wesson, are previewing all 10 stages of the course of fire competitors will face this weekend.
IDPA members and others interested in the scenarios and stage designs featured in this year’s match, as well as those from past matches, should visit IDPA’s DOWN ZERO blog.
Sanctioned by the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), the Massachusetts State IDPA Championship will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2, at the Rob & Gun Club of New Bedford located in North Dartmouth.
In addition to determining the state champion in each of IDPA’s five handgun competition divisions, the match also serves as the first leg of the newly established King of New England, which is being presented by Apex Tactical Specialties.
Four stages from each of three major New England championships, starting with the Massachusetts State Championship, will make up the 12 stage challenge. To kick off the King of New England, John Catterall, match director of the Massachusetts State match, has selected the following stages as the Massachusetts State Championship portion of the series:
Stage 1 – Hallway Clearance
Stage 4 – Shrimp Mozambique
Stage 7 – Deep in the Heart of Texas
Stage 8 – Reload Skill Drill: Fast or Slow?
Stage 9 – Easy As 1-2-3 (alternate)
IDPA, which is the country’s fastest growing shooting sport, has seen tremendous growth in the last few years fueled by the surging demand in concealed carry permits and the increasing need for personal protection.
